Keystone Updates 28 Aug 2024

We are currently taking a long break. We've accomplished a lot over the summer, there are some things I need to do before we can continue with anything. The current status is like this:

  • We've completed the trailer. And it's an amazing trailer. This trailer is more than just a trailer, it's sort of an introduction to what the game is. I was thinking maybe we can call it a "feature trailer".
  • We have all of the sketches done for every chapter in the cyberpunk book.
  • On that note: I finished the script for the entire cyberpunk book, lacking dialogue and some details.
  • The trailer song is "copletely composed" but we are still working on fine tuning with the mixing.
  • I have officially started working on the inner Library for the game. So you don't just jump right into books anymore. You have to enter the library first, and there you can choose from a myriad of things to do in addition to the books.
  • Rooms include: Lobby & Information, Reading Room, Terrace, Management, Great Hall

These are defined as such:

Lobby & Information

You start in the lobby, and this area will give you an overall view of the environment and it's status. Since your long-term goal is to improve the library from an ancient abandoned mess into a fun and thriving establishment, so here in the lobby you will be able to see that in a glance. If you upgrade your Library well it will attract guests and you can see them here. The furniture and decor will improve as you make upgrades. You can also talk with Charlotte in the lobby, she is the library's general assistant and manages the information desk.

Reading Room

It's a library! You gotta read!

Of course in our case here, reading can also mean playing a fun interactive story. But there will be more in this room as the game expands. I hope to add a list of fun stories and maybe even full books to read, and there might be some fun gadgets we can add - anything that might be suitable for a reading or study room.

Terrace

Behind the information desk in the lobby, there are doors and windows which lead out to a terrace. This area is simply for relaxation. I plan to add some visual and audio atmospheric effects here. You should be able to customize your terrace to look and feel how you like it.

Management

In the management office you can talk with the manager, Clive. He knows the facility better than anyone, and he can help you to make upgrades with the points you earn. Upgrades include:

  • Improving the quality of the facility, from old tattered walls to clean and shiny.
  • Adding art and furniture.
  • Customizing the look of your halls and rooms.
  • Sending out adverts and invitations to attract more guests.
  • Dealing with problems from outsiders and matters of publicity.
  • Adding rooms to the Great Hall. This can be anything from a music room, an arcade, a cafe, anything that might be fun. We hope to continuously add fun rooms to the library to make it more fun and interesting and ultimately hope to attract more guests.

Great Hall

The Great Hall is a giant hall full of rooms. This is the place where you can add little businesses with Clive. A music room, an arcade, a cafe or whatever else we manage to provide through the game. Hopefully these extra rooms will make the library more interesting and attract more guests. Of course the player should be able to find some fun stuff in there too. Imagine some mini games, idle games, a pet room or aquarium!
